Led By The Spirit

"For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God." Rom 8:14

A S K: Sometimes its a matter of how you do, not what you do

Ask and it will be given to you

It all sounds so simple, yet many people feel that asking is beyond their comfort level. To them, asking means surrendering or submitting control of oneself to someone or something else. They see a risk in not having the freedom of deciding whether to agree or disagree with the choices presented: to accept or to reject. Asking is often situational. If you were desperate or in a life -threatening circumstance due to an emergency of any sort, asking for help would be a no brainer. When it comes to our emotional, financial, or medical needs or seeking help for a family member such as our children, no stone is left unturned. BUT, when that emergency is due to our spiritual unhealthiness, that’s a weight many of us are unwilling to bear, let alone ask for care.

Seek and you will find

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,” is a  proverb from Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu found in the Tao Te Ching. The literal meaning of this proverb is clear and compelling if not oddly whimsical in its clarity. It also  summarizes what each of us face when we need to make decisions. Taking that ‘single step’ means addressing the thing or things that need our attention, which is keeping us from making that step. Unfortunately, it is usually not procrastination or even avoidance, but  evasion because we have become attached to our decision not to decide.

Knock and the door will be opened to you.

A popular saying was “Opportunity only knocks once!” Only once? That may be true in some instances, but  what if it rings the bell? Should you not respond because knocking didn’t work? In the context of trying to accomplish any goal, wouldn’t it be better if we just made the effort to do something rather than to wait and see what happens? If you really want a change in your life, just ASK.
